BECHAMEL / WHITE SAUCE

Ingredients

(10 portions)

1L water
200g KWERKY powder
100g butter (plant-based)
100g plain flour
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 bay leaf
Grated cheese to taste (optional, plant-based for dairy-free recipe)

Method:

Melt the butter in a thick-bottomed pan.
Add the flour in and mix in.
Cook for a few minutes over a gentle heat without colouring.
Gradually add the water and stir until smooth.
Allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
Add KWERKY powder and seasoning (and optional cheese). Add more water here if required.
Simmer for a further 5 minutes.
Cover with a film of butter to prevent a skin forming.
